Velt (Association for Ecological Living and Gardening) is an association in the Netherlands for all people who want to work ecologically in the garden or in the kitchen. For more than 40 years, Velt has advocated a healthy lifestyle that follows the seasons, while respecting nature. Thousands of volunteers campaign for an ecological living environment and sustainable development. Velt defends biodiversity and an approach by individuals, companies and governments to production and consumption that is efficient as far as energy and resources are concerned.
Velt (Vereniging voor Ecologisch Leven en Tuinieren) is al sinds 1972 actief voor al wie milieuvriendelijk aan de slag wil in de tuin of keuken. Met ruim 20.000 leden en 1000 vrijwilligers in Vlaanderen en Nederland komen ze op voor biodiversiteit en energie- en grondstoffenzuinige productie en consumptie. Hun inzet voor een ecologische leefomgeving binnen een visie van duurzame ontwikkeling krijgt vorm in een brede waaier aan activiteiten, publicaties en samenwerkingen. Velt heeft ook een zadenwerkgroep die specifiek werkt rond zaadteelt en zaaigoedautonomie. De zadenwerkgroep en andere lokale groepen organiseren jaarlijks zadenruilbeurzen.
