	Access to diversified seeds suitable for all kinds of growing conditions is difficult and sometimes impossible in some countries of the South. However, in recent years we have noticed a growing enthusiasm for gardening. This can be explained, among other things, by an increasing mistrust of industrially produced food and the need to ensure survival in times of crisis. The creation of family, collective or “shared” vegetable gardens in or near cities is also a response to the desire to find places where social links can be forged.	Daudzveidīgas sēklas, kas piemērotas visdažādākajiem audzēšanas apstākļiem, ir grūti pieejamas, bet vairākās dienvidu valstīs - pat nesasniedzamas. Tomēr pēdējo gadu laikā novērojams dārzkopības entuziastu skaita pieaugums. Tendence saistāma ar plašo neuzticību pārtikas ražošanas industrijai un vēlmi pārliecināties - mēs spētu izdzīvot arī krīzes laikā. Ģimenes, kopienas vai ''koplietošanas'' dārziņu izveide pilsētvidē vai pilsētu tuvumā tāpat uzskatāma par apliecinājumu sabiedrības vēlmei rast drošu vietu - sociālo saikņu veidošanai.

	There are still small associations in Europe which maintain and disseminate these varieties. They also spread the knowledge related to seed production through training programmes, sessions, books and documents. They are helped by many people who reproduce varieties in their plots (amateur gardeners and small farmers). The more there are people involved in conservation and multiplication, the less there is a risk of losing cultivated biodiversity.	Eiropā joprojām pastāv nelielas apvienības, kas tiecas uzturēt un izplatīt šķirņu daudzveidību. Apvienības dalās arī sēklu ražošanas zinībās, piedāvājot mācību programmas, nodarbības, literatūru un publikācijas. Apvienību darbību nodrošina daudzi cilvēki, kuri pavairo šķirnes savos īpašumos (dārzkopji-amatieri un sīkie zemnieki). Jo vairāk cilvēku iesaistās aizsardzības un pavairošanas iniciatīvās, jo mazāks ir kultivētās biodaudzveidības zudumu risks.

Filmu cikls paredzēts visiem, kurus interesē sēklu ražošana: amatierdārzniekiem, iesācējiem, zemniekiem, skolām, profesionālās izglītības iestādēm un bērniem. 	Throughout history seeds have always been given or exchanged. The skills and know-how required for seed production should be able to circulate in the same way, free of charge. Across Europe many seed exchanges exist and are developing. These make it possible to distribute many varieties to a broader public.	Civilizācijas vēsturē vienmēr norisinājusies sēklu apmaiņa vai dāvināšana. Tieši tāpat - nepieciešams brīvi un bez maksas dalīties arī sēklu ražošanas zinībās un prasmēs. Eiropā pastāv daudz sēklu apmaiņas iniciatīvu - un rodas arvien jaunas. Tādējādi - lielāka šķirņu daudzveidība sasniedz plašāku sabiedrību.
	The transmission of knowledge is, however, a real difficulty during these seed fairs, as the crowds are very large and time is short. Thanks to these educational films people already aware of the importance of producing one's own seeds can begin putting this into practice in their gardens. The technical explanations are formulated in a simple language accessible to all and are translated into several languages.
