Örneğin, marul 2-3 ay sonra tüketilecek hale gelir, ancak tohumlarını üretmesi 5-6 ay kadar sürer. Ayrıca ekiminin ikinci yılında çiçek açan ve tohum üreten havuç gibi birçok iki yıllık bitki de vardır.
