Across Europe many seed exchanges exist and are developing. These make it possible to distribute many varieties to a broader public.
Sinds mensenheugenis worden zaden weggegeven en geruild. De knowhow over zaadteelt moet zich ook vrij kunnen verspreiden op dezelfde manier, gratis. In heel Europa en op heel wat plekken in de wereld organiseren mensen zadenruilbeurzen. Het is niet altijd gemakkelijk goeide boeken te vinden over deze knowhowzaadteelt en voor veel mensen is lezen niet de beste manier om te leren. HDankzij hoogwaardig beeldmateriaal geeft ons de kanskan je alle stadia van de ontwikkeling van planten op de voet volgen, van zaad tot zaad. Complexe processen als bloembiologie en bestuiving maar ook bepaalde kneepjes en methodes voor het oogsten, dorsen, schonen en bewaren van zaad worden zo in één oogopslag glashelder. Een camera kan bijvoorbeeldimmers inzoomen op details om bepaalde kenmerken van planten nog makkelijker te herkennen.

This can be explained, among other things, by an increasing mistrust of industrially produced food and the need to ensure survival in times of crisis. The creation of family, collective or “shared” vegetable gardens in or near cities is also a response to the desire to find places where social links can be forged.
Divers zaaigoed, aangepast aan uiteenlopende kweekomstandigheden, is vaak moeilijk te vinden en in sommige landen zelfs helemaal verdwenen. Toch groeit erzien we de laatste jaren een steeds grotergroeiend enthousiasme voor tuinieren. Veel mensen hebben steeds minder vertrouwen in industrieel geproduceerd voedsel. Je eigen voedsel telen is ook een manier om te overleven in tijden van crisis. Op heel wat plekken worden stadstuinen aangelegd of andere vormen van gemeenschappelijke moestuinen. Naast gezond voedsel zoeken mensenwe daar ook nieuwe manieren om andere mensen te ontmoeten.
