Always put a label with the name of the variety and species as well as the year of harvesting inside the package, as writing on the outside may rub off.
Depois, usamos o vento para eliminar as outras sujeiras: podemos assoprar as sementes, usar um pequeno ventilador ou o próprio ventoTemos que colocar sempre uma etiqueta com o nome da variedade, da espécie e do ano de produção dentro do pacotinho, pois as vezes acontece que a escrita sobre o pacote se apague. Em clima tropical e úmido, podemos colocar sílica-gel dentro do pacotinho junto às sementes. A sílica irá retirar o excesso de água das sementes e aumentará a conservação das mesmas. Alguns dias no congelador ajudam a eliminar as larvas de parasitas.

Onion seeds have a germination capacity of two years. This can sometimes stretch to four to five years. As these seeds quickly lose their germination capacity, to lengthen this period keep them in the freezer.
As sementes de cebola mantém uma boa germinação durante apenas dois anos, mas esta pode se prolongar até 4 a 5 anos. O armazenamento permanente destas sementes na geladeira permite aumentar a viabilidade germinativa.

Para a extração, esfregamos manualmente as umbelas (flores), e estouramos as capsulas usando um rolo por exemplo. Para a triagem, utilizamos uma peneira fina que segura as sementes e deixa passar as sujeiras menores.
